Black archives are so, so important. I love, explore and engage them in all the different ways they show up - but I was tired of not seeing Black trans people immortalised as just people. Any trust I had for others to correctly archive us is gone. I am happy to take on that responsibility with the Black Trans Archive archive and to help find a way for us as Black trans people to better remember each other.

I have grown in communities and cultures that believe women should not be loud and voice their opinions: only men can do it. I was brought up to believe when women speak it is disrespectful to men and the world. In this world, it is believed women are dumb and cannot be leaders.

Micro Rainbow is currently working in collaboration with Stonewall and the Tent Partnership for Refugees, a network of over 170 major companies committed to refugees’ economic integration, to launch a mentorship initiative especially for LGBT+ refugees in the UK. I think being mixed-raced gave me the strength to be an out bisexual man. I had this roadmap in my head, this energy, this belief that I’d learned from POC in my family. About not letting the world push you around, about speaking your truth, about insisting on fairness. I’m applying that energy to my work in the bisexual space.
